FLOCK 2026: More than one way to experience the story
Flock is now open at the Jack Studio Theatre in Lewisham. After its national tour and four-week run at Soho Theatre in 2024, a newly imagined version of Lin Coghlan’s powerful, funny and ultimately hopeful play has come home to the borough where its story is rooted.
Robbie is 17. His sister Cel is 20. They’ve grown up in and out of the care system, different placements, different addresses, always finding their way back to each other. Cel wants to go to university. Robbie wants them to finally live together in one place. Neither of those things seems too much to ask.
What follows is Robbie’s journey back through every place he’s lived, every moment they shared, every argument and tender exchange, trying to understand how they got here, and whether any of it was his fault.
But seeing Flock on stage is only one way to enter its world.
This autumn, we’re creating a whole series of ways to encounter Flock — whether you’re able to get to the theatre, want to explore Lewisham through the story, or would rather take part from home.
Come and see Flock
The production is now playing at The Jack Studio Theatre, Brockley Road, until Saturday 3 October, with evening performances at 7.30pm and a final Saturday matinee at 3pm. Soon, we’ll announce our community tour venues too — offering you another chance to catch the show live!
Directed by Jim Pope and written by multi-award-winning writer Lin Coghlan, Flock is a story about siblings, belonging, grief, resilience and the search for somewhere you can call home. It’s also a story deeply connected to Lewisham. The streets, places and communities of the borough aren't simply a backdrop, they are part of the story itself.
Walk the Story
What if you could step beyond the theatre and follow the story through the streets where it is set?
We’ve produced a self-guided audio walk through Lewisham, taking you deeper into the world of Flock through the character of Miko, Robbie's friend who is quietly facing his own crisis on the edges of care.
Put on your headphones, head out into Lewisham and experience the story in the places that inspired it.
Join the conversation by attending our Conference
The questions at the heart of Flock don't stop when the curtain falls. Flock: In Formation brings together care-experienced young people, practitioners and policy makers to ask how culture can play a more meaningful role in supporting care-experienced young people.Co-created with young people with expertise by experience, this isn't a conference where people with lived experience are simply invited to sit in the audience. They're at the table, shaping the conversation. The conference creates space to think about what happens when we work alongside young people's potential rather than simply managing need — and what culture can make possible when young people are given genuine influence.
